Pro series workstation motherboards are designed to allow multi-GPU operation, which is especially favorable for DL (Deep Learning). DL is a training process for the development of AI, it works by approximating a solution to a problem using neural networks that consists of multiplying enormous matrices, and this kind of intensive task is the right fit for GPUs, making them a popular tool amongst DL researchers. To speed up the DL training process, it is recommended to have the GPU run in a PCIe X16 or X8 slot to get the most performance out of it, and using more GPUs will also make the training process faster.
