Statements from Honorable President of India and Mr Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Trusts- Innovation Growth Programme (IIGP) 2.0| Festival of Innovation

Honorable President of India Shri Pranab Mukerjee, honorable President of India closed the week-long Festival of Innovation recently at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Speaking on the India Innovation Growth Programme 2.0 the President said, “I am also happy to note that India Innovation Growth Program in the second phase has brought together DST, Tata Trust and Lockheed Martin together. One of the most eminent industrialists of our country, Shri Ratan Tata, is present here to mark his support for government’s initiatives in this regard. It is my earnest desire that the financing of innovations and early stage ventures should become far less complex over time. This must necessarily also be accompanied by attitudinal change – we must learn to celebrate and learn from failures in the same way as we celebrate success.”

Speaking at the concluding session of the Festival of Innovation, Mr Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Trusts said, “The words innovations and startups in the recent times connote enormous profits and billionaires and we often forget that most startups have resulted in products and services that benefit the common man. India has created many innovators. We share the responsibility to create an environment that fosters innovation and encourages innovators to take their product to market and the private sector would play a huge role in making this happen. We should make India a land of innovations giving a chance to young entrepreneurs and innovators to demonstrate their innovativeness. Tata Trusts is committed to provide innovators the opportunities and the continued support in partnership with Lockheed Martin and the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India under the India Innovation Growth Program 2.0.”
