Bard Roy Infotech’s Managing Director believes that future is challenging. With the huge growth in market, the solution providers have a great future in the IT sector irrespective of the challenges and shortcomings that the industry is facing.
What is your big focus area of operations in the solutions space?
We have various divisions, first the SMB and Enterprise divisions where we are focusing on server, storage as a whole solution and for storage we are talking about Big Data solving the data problems of the organization in corporate. Second division is IT Enable Services where we are making Adhaar cards for the Government of India. Third division is the Financial Inclusion Projects where we are opening zero balance projects for SBI in various districts like Burdwan and Bankura. This is another solution approach in IT. This is a Government planning to give subsidy to people against cylinder, ration card and they want to transfer the amount to the consumer account. We are opening the zero balance account for the consumer and when the subsidy starts pouring against the cylinders then directly given to the account as these people don’t have the account. These are the two basic projects, then we have the division focusing on networking and security surveillance as that is the big area now a days. These are the 3 things we are focusing on the solution front.
What kind of vendors are you working with at present?
We deal in Storage and Server- HP, IBM and had done one project with Dell. For IT Enable Services we are working with card printer, Evolis printer a French company and in Security Surveillance- Honeywell, Hickvision, D link, for networking- HP, CISCO as the main vendor.
How do you look at upcoming technology trends in India?
Presently everything is moving on cloud, everyone have application on cloud, people will start using tablet in application front in the sales and they will upload data through application. It is a very big market where lots of application will emerge on the cloud. That is where the future lies in the upcoming trend.
Where is the biggest growth likely to come from?
Our big growth is from the IT enable services and application services i.e. consultancy to people.
What are some of the big technology pain points while implementing a solution for an Enterprise or SMB customer?
The financial crunch as there is no such business in West Bengal, no new companies are coming and investing and people are going out of West Bengal to do business. This is how IT dealers are surviving presently. Kolkata market is down as the corporate sector is down, no new corporate, so the demand is less.
Please share details about your operations –How much is your revenue? What are your plans to increase the revenue and growth for the company?
Last Year the company’s turnover was nearly Rs.70 crores, a growth of 15%, this year we also expect 15% growth and planning to add products like tablet and cloud and this should gear up the business in coming years.
Are you focusing on any new area of operation in the coming months?
We are planning to open branches in Bhubaneswar and Patna to increase the operation. Our Head Quarter is in Kolkata.
As you are dealing with some prime vendors- how is their support towards the company?
Vendors do provide good support. Many a times vendors can’t give prices because of the escalation in the raw material prices. So only thing they are trying to give prices but every time they are not able to match it. More over HP is giving a tremendous support to us.
Any issues prevailing in the market or with the vendor?
As told, Government hasn’t got new projects. For which demand is low. New project will bring the growth for both our company and the IT market.
Do you have stores of your own? How many and where are they located?
We have three retail outlets in Emall- Logitech in the ground floor, IT arena in 1st floor, and Gaming and Gadgets in the 2nd floor. We have plans to open more outlets in West Bengal but the place has not been finalized.
Apart from Kolkata where is your company located?
We have our Branch Office in Ahmadabad apart from our HO in Kolkata.
Are you adding any vendor recently?
We are not adding any vendor this financial year. We want to continue our business with the existing vendors.
Do you have the after sales service? Share some details about your service team?
We have got our Service department which takes care of Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) and facility management. The team is of 20 people reaching support in whole West Bengal.
How do you find the Solution Provider’s market?
As a Solution Provider we require new projects, huge growth is there in the market and the Solution Providers have great future. As we are not present in entire India we need projects in West Bengal.
